About Me
Born and raised in central New Jersey, I grew up in the small town of Scotch Plains where I had the privilege of living 40 minutes from New York and an hour from Philadelphia. During my years of life I have found most of my passion in music, theater, backpacking, and model making. I also ran cross country for 8 years and was able to become a solid tennis player by the time 12th grade came to a close. I definitely bit off a lot more than I could chew in high school, trying to make sure I had done it all, but there is nothing I enjoy more than being around and spending time with the people I love.
I believe it is my many desires that have led me on the path of my current majors. You see, I have been fascinated by flight and space since 8th grade when I visited Kennedy Space Center. I remember walking through the front gates and immediately being drawn to the array of large rockets (all that had been used for the Apollo, Gemini, or Mercury missions) wondering how someone could even begin to design something so intricate. As I stood in front of a Titan II, I began to wonder what it must have been like to be apart of the team that helped Ed White become the first American to perform an EVA in Gemini IV or the team that watched as Neil Armstrong performed the first ever space dock in Gemini VIII. I wanted nothing more than to design such a rocket, become a pilot, and command my own ship one day. For the next four years, I spent most of my summers researching and then constructing rockets (both with kits and without) trying to perfectly replicate my favorites, concluding my senior year of high school with a large-scale model of the Saturn V. I chose engineering because it is the discipline that teaches application of concepts and the discipline that proves that the only barrier to shooting for the stars is imagination.
Outside of academics at Penn State, I enjoy working for the Formula SAE team where we design and build a formula type race car every year. I am primarily a part of the chassis and aerodynamic subsystems and have had the privilege of gaining immeasurable experience from the people I have interacted with.
I also volunteer with STARS theater each summer as assistant director, where I help to produce two amazing musicals utilizing kids aging from kindergarten to 10th grade.
